Ground Zero’s Box Office Struggles
Emraan Hashmi’s latest film, Ground Zero, has received a mixed response from audiences since its release. Despite being an action-packed drama, the film opened with a lukewarm response at the box office. On its first Friday, Ground Zero met its projected target of Rs 1 crore but fell short of a stronger debut. By Day 2, the film had earned Rs 1.90 crore, showing a slight growth but still struggling to find its rhythm. Directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, the film follows BSF officer Narendra Nath Dubey (played by Hashmi), who was part of the 2003 mission that brought down notorious terrorist Ghazi Baba.
Challenges and Future Outlook
Despite an underwhelming opening, the film’s first weekend could prove pivotal. With mixed early reviews, Ground Zero‘s future largely depends on audience feedback and word of mouth. Produced by Excel Entertainment, the movie also stars Sai Tamhankar as Jaya Dubey and Zoya Hussain as Aadila. Given the moderate box office collections, it remains uncertain whether the film will pick up momentum as the weekend progresses. The film’s pre-release ticket sales were less than stellar, adding to concerns over its overall performance. Notably, if the buzz around the film grows, it could still turn around its box office fortunes.
Emraan Hashmi’s Big Announcement
Meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi has exciting news for his fans. The actor recently confirmed that a sequel to his 2007 hit Awarapan is in the works. Titled Awarapan 2, the sequel is slated for release on April 3, 2026, with shooting set to begin by the end of July. This announcement comes after the resurgence of Awarapan on social media, with fans creating reels and expressing their admiration for the film’s soundtrack and the chemistry between Hashmi and his co-star. Interestingly, Hashmi reveals that the sequel wasn’t a result of recent fan demand but a decision based on the project’s potential.
Notably, Hashmi’s last theatrical outing, Tiger 3, was a massive hit, earning over Rs 260 crore in India. With such success in his recent films, all eyes will be on his upcoming projects, including Awarapan 2.
