The long-anticipated trailer of Kannappa has finally dropped—and it’s nothing short of spectacular. Packed with divine drama, larger-than-life visuals, and star power like never before, this mythological epic is set to become one of 2025’s most talked-about releases.
All-Star Cast Powers Kannappa’s Grand Trailer Launch
Leading the cast is Vishnu Manchu, portraying Thinnadu—a brave warrior who transforms into the devout Bhaktha Kannappa, a fierce devotee of Lord Shiva. Akshay Kumar makes a striking appearance as Lord Shiva himself, while Prabhas delivers his signature intensity as Rudra. The legendary Mohanlal also features as Kirata, adding to the film’s spiritual gravitas.
The newly released trailer spans two minutes and fifty-four seconds, delivering a feast of visual effects, dramatic action sequences, and an emotionally powerful narrative arc. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa is being pitched as a major pan-Indian production with a global release date set for June 27, 2025.
According to the official statement from the producers, the film offers “a powerful retelling of a historic devotional saga—where one man’s spiritual devotion and sacrifice forged a legend.”
Kannappa Faces VFX Leak Threat Amid Production Controversy
However, behind the scenes, Kannappa has faced serious challenges. A major security breach has rattled the production team, as a VFX hard disk theft threatened to derail the film’s schedule. An executive producer filed a complaint at Hyderabad’s Film Nagar police station, reporting that critical visual effects data had been stolen.
The hard disk, reportedly received by office assistant Raghu and later handed to a woman named Charitha, has gone missing—along with both individuals. The team suspects an attempt to leak over 90 minutes of unreleased footage online. A statement from the production team warns, “Credible intelligence suggests the footage thieves are attempting to sabotage the film’s release.”
Speaking at a press event in Chennai, Vishnu Manchu explained that their VFX work is being carried out across studios in Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Dubai, and London. He detailed how the package was routed through his father Mohan Babu’s Film Nagar residence, a common practice for their family.
What to Expect from Kannappa’s Pan-Indian Release
Produced by industry veteran Mohan Babu, Kannappa also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Preity Mukundhan, Brahmanandam, and Sarath Kumar. Backed by Twenty Four Frames Factory and AVA Entertainment, the film showcases a rich blend of culture, devotion, and high-end cinematic storytelling. Interestingly, Vishnu Manchu also wrote the film’s story and screenplay, bringing a personal vision to this ambitious mythological universe.
As buzz builds ahead of its release, Kannappa is already shaping up to be a cultural milestone in Indian cinema—merging spiritual themes with cutting-edge production. Stay tuned for more updates as the release date approaches.
