Tragic Loss of a Toddler After Mid-Flight Revival

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 15-month-old Bangladeshi girl, who was revived by a team of dedicated doctors from Delhi AIIMS during a Bengaluru-New Delhi Vistara flight, has sadly passed away due to severe medical complications. The child’s journey ended tragically at a private hospital in Nagpur in the early hours of Thursday.

Emergency Landing Amidst Health Crisis

The young girl had been admitted in a critical condition at KIMS-Kingsway Hospital in Nagpur on August 27, following an emergency landing of the flight prompted by her deteriorating health mid-air. Her battle for life came to a heart-wrenching conclusion at 3.15 am on Thursday, as confirmed by Aejaz Shami, Deputy General Manager (Branding and Communications) at KIMS-Kingsway Hospitals, where she was under intensive medical care.

“The staff and doctors at the hospital offered round-the-clock care to the child and in spite of exemplary care, the child could not survive and was declared dead at 3.15 am today,”

A Heroic Effort Mid-Flight

The unfortunate incident occurred while the girl was traveling with her family members on a Vistara flight. She suddenly fell unconscious, experiencing a cardiac arrest mid-flight. Fortunately, a team of five AIIMS residents, who happened to be fellow passengers on the flight, immediately sprang into action. They initiated life-saving measures by providing CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) to the distressed baby, successfully reviving her.

Complications Arise

Despite the heroic efforts made both mid-flight and during the transfer to the hospital, the child remained in a critical state. She faced a series of complex medical issues, including renal and cardiac failures, as detailed by Aejaz Shami.

Her parents and relatives were closely counseled throughout this traumatic journey, ultimately coming to terms with the grim reality as the child’s condition worsened, manifesting multiple organ dysfunctions.

Returning Home

At this time, the hospital authorities are making arrangements to transfer the child’s mortal remains to Bangladesh, her home country, to allow her family to bid a final farewell.
