RRB Sets New ALP CBT-2 Exam Dates for May 2025 After March Disruption
If you were one of the many candidates affected by the unexpected cancellation of the ALP CBT-2 exam, here’s the update you’ve been waiting for. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially announced the revised dates for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) Recruitment CBT-2, which was initially set for March 19 and 20, 2025.
Thanks to technical issues that disrupted the first and second shifts on March 19, the board had no choice but to pull the plug on those sessions. Now, the rescheduled exams will run from May 2 to May 6, 2025.
Who Needs to Reappear?
According to the latest notice, anyone who was supposed to take the test during the first or second shift on March 19 — but didn’t get to complete it — must show up for the new dates. This also includes those originally slated for the first shift on March 20. If your exam went smoothly on other dates, you’re in the clear and don’t need to retake anything.
Exam Timing & Admit Card Details
The CBT-2 will follow a two-shift format: the first shift kicks off bright and early at 7:30 AM, while the second shift starts at 12:30 PM.
Keep an eye out for your city intimation slip — those will drop 10 days before the exam. Admit cards will be available to download just four days prior to the big day.
Stay Alert — Avoid Scams
RRB is also sounding the alarm about fake promises and shady touts. They’re urging candidates to stick with the official RRB websites for all legit updates. No backdoor entries here — selections are based purely on merit through computer-based testing.
18,799 Vacancies on the Line
This recruitment drive is massive — RRBs are aiming to fill 18,799 Assistant Loco Pilot positions across India. Originally, the job count was just 5,696. But after more requests from Zonal Railways, the number shot up to meet rising demand.
To recap, the CBT-1 took place in late November 2024, and results were released in January 2025. Now with CBT-2 around the corner (again), candidates have a fresh shot at moving forward in this highly sought-after recruitment process.
