The NEET-MDS 2025 exam is getting a major format shake-up aimed at tightening security and ensuring a fairer testing environment.

New Two-Part Structure with Fixed Timings

According to the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), the upcoming NEET-MDS exam will be split into two distinct sections—each with its own time limit and set of questions. Part A will feature 100 questions to be completed in 75 minutes. Once that time expires, candidates will automatically move to Part B, which contains 140 questions and a 105-minute limit.

What’s important to note is that candidates won’t be allowed to jump ahead or return to a previous part. Once the timer runs out for Part A, it’s locked—no reviewing or changing answers. The same goes for Part B. This approach is intended to preserve the integrity of the exam in light of “emerging threats” during testing, as noted by NBEMS.

No Going Back: What This Means for Candidates

With the new system, pacing and time management will be more critical than ever. The transition between parts is automated, and the structure prevents any backtracking, making each section a self-contained test. Each question still carries four marks, and one mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

NBEMS also announced that candidates can take a demo test starting April 9, 2025, via the official NBEMS website. This will be available under the NEET-MDS 2025 application link to help applicants get familiar with the new timed format.

Exam Dates and Access to Admit Cards

NEET-MDS 2025 is scheduled for April 19. Admit cards will be released online on April 15. The entrance test is held annually by the National Board of Examinations for admission into postgraduate dental programs across India.

With this update, NBEMS is clearly focused on improving exam security and adapting to modern testing challenges. Candidates are encouraged to take the demo test seriously to prepare effectively for the real exam environment.
