Ameesha Patel: From Debut Success to Financial Sacrifices
Indian actress Ameesha Patel, who shot to fame with her debut film “Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai,” recently shared insights into her journey in Bollywood. While she enjoyed massive success early on, Patel also faced challenges in her career, including financial sacrifices.
Waiving Fees for Struggling Films
In a candid interview with Bollywood Bubble, Ameesha Patel revealed that she willingly waived her fees for certain films when they failed to perform well at the box office. She explained that producers approached her with the request, considering the financial losses they incurred due to a film’s underperformance.
“Sometimes when the films didn’t work, the producers had sweetly come to me and asked me to waive my fee because their films didn’t work at the box office and they were at losses. I have let the fees go in such situations because I think it’s very important to understand another person’s position. So, no one forced me to give up my remuneration, I have done it out of respect for my producers,”
The Role of ‘Godfather’ in Bollywood
Patel also touched upon the dynamics of the film industry, highlighting the significance of having a ‘godfather’ in Bollywood. She stated that those with industry connections often have an advantage, as they receive support even when their films don’t perform as expected.
“Only those who didn’t come from film families were targeted because we didn’t get any support. Those who belong to the industry will always have an edge, that’s a fact. If I had belonged to the film fraternity, if I had a godfather then even if my films didn’t work, it wouldn’t have mattered, and I would have gotten the biggest films. But that’s fine, maybe I am just meant for blockbuster hits,”
Success of “Gadar 2”
Despite the challenges she faced, Ameesha Patel is currently basking in the success of “Gadar 2.” The film, directed by Anil Sharma and co-starring Sunny Deol and Utkarsh Sharma, has surpassed the Rs 500 crore mark at the box office, solidifying Patel’s status as a Bollywood powerhouse.
