Xiaomi is stepping back into the foldable smartphone game with the upcoming Mix Flip 2, and excitement is already building. The company has teased a launch set for this month in China, with strong hints that the device will come packed with top-tier hardware, including a Leica-branded camera system and the powerful Snapdragon 8 series chipset.
Flagship Hardware with Leica Camera and HyperOS
The Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 is expected to deliver a major leap in performance and design over its predecessor. While Xiaomi hasn’t revealed the exact launch date, a recent teaser with the phrase “see you this month” all but confirms that the reveal is imminent.
Inside, the device will likely be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen chipset, offering enhanced processing speeds and energy efficiency. It’s also tipped to run on Xiaomi’s HyperOS straight out of the box, a move that further aligns the Mix Flip 2 with the brand’s new software direction.
As for imaging, the Mix Flip 2 is rumored to feature a dual rear camera system co-developed with Leica. This setup is said to include a 50MP primary sensor with a 1/1.5-inch sensor size, along with a 50MP ultra-wide lens replacing the traditional telephoto camera. This could mark a shift in how Xiaomi approaches mobile photography in its foldable lineup.
Display, Battery, and Premium Features
Based on recent leaks, the device will likely sport a 6.85-inch LTPO OLED inner display with a sharp 1.5K resolution, promising fluid visuals and adaptive refresh rates. The cover screen is also expected to impress, with a 4.01-inch flexible AMOLED displayoffering similar resolution quality.
Other standout features could include an IPX8 water-resistance rating, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for added security, and support for wireless charging—a first for Xiaomi’s foldable series. The 5,100mAh battery is rumored to support 67W fast charging, making it one of the most power-efficient flip-style phones to date.
While pricing details remain under wraps, the previous Mix Flip model launched at CNY 6,499 (approximately ₹77,600) for the 12GB+512GB variant. We can expect the Mix Flip 2 to fall within a similar range, offering a competitive alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series.
India Launch Unlikely but Not Impossible
Although Xiaomi has been gradually increasing its premium offerings in India, the chances of the Mix Flip 2 India launch are slim. The company’s foldables have traditionally remained exclusive to the Chinese market. However, growing interest in foldable smartphones in India could eventually change that narrative.
For now, those eager to get their hands on Xiaomi’s latest foldable will likely need to look toward imports or wait for a possible global unveiling later this year.
