On his four-day diplomatic trip to India, US Vice President JD Vance made a colorful stop in Jaipur, immersing himself and his family in the cultural heart of Rajasthan.
Warm Welcome at Amber Fort
Touching down in the Pink City on Tuesday, Vance was greeted with a traditional Rajasthani welcome at the iconic Amber Fort. Accompanied by his wife, Usha Vance, and their three children—Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel—the Vice President experienced the grandeur of folk dance performances and majestic, ornately adorned elephants.
The family is currently staying at the historic Rambagh Palace, a former royal residence turned luxury hotel. Their Jaipur itinerary includes visits to famed landmarks like Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, and the City Palace.
High-Level Meetings and Strategic Talks
Meanwhile, Vance is slated to meet with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagade, underlining the importance of state-level engagement in strengthening bilateral ties. Security has been beefed up across the city, with the Chief Minister personally reviewing arrangements ahead of the visit.
The highlight of Vance’s agenda is a keynote lecture at the Rajasthan International Centre, focusing on the evolving dynamics of US-India relations. Attendees include diplomats, policy experts, and academics, signaling a robust dialogue on global cooperation and strategic alliances.
Delhi Meetings and Cultural Stops
Before arriving in Jaipur, Vance explored the Central Cottage Industries Emporium in New Delhi and held a significant meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Calling it an “honor,” Vance praised Modi as a “great leader” and expressed deep appreciation for the Prime Minister’s hospitality toward his family.
Following their Jaipur tour, the Vance family is expected to make a brief visit to Agra on Wednesday before returning to the city. Their India visit concludes early Thursday morning as they head back to the US.
