India’s top junior golfers are stepping onto one of Asia’s most prestigious stages this week. Representing the nation at the APGC Junior Championship 2024 in Hong Kong, four rising stars are ready to make their mark at the iconic Hong Kong Golf Club from May 27–29.

India’s Golf Contingent Eyes Victory at Asia-Pacific Junior Tournament

The Indian team, selected by the Indian Golf Union (IGU), features Krish Chawla and Ranveer Mitroo in the boys’ division, while Saanvi Somu and Kashika Mishra lead the girls’ squad. They are accompanied by non-playing captain Dr. Komal Narwar for the three-day championship, which includes individual and team formats across boys, girls, and mixed categories.

The tournament uses a stroke-play format, where individual scores will also determine team standings. Notably, the mixed team title will be calculated by combining the best boy and girl score from each team, a format that adds strategic depth to each round.

Weather conditions in Hong Kong are expected to be ideal for play, with intermittent sunshine and mostly cloudy skies offering a cool and calm setting for focused competition.

Young Golfers Share Goals and Preparation Strategies

Krish Chawla, known for his steady improvement and disciplined approach, shared his optimistic outlook: “I’ve been preparing daily, focusing on correcting my mistakes and enhancing my game. This is a learning opportunity I’m truly looking forward to.”

Meanwhile, Ranveer Mitroo, who is also scheduled to play at the Singapore Junior Championship and in upcoming U.S. events, has been refining his swing mechanics and short game. “It’s a proud moment to represent India. The IGU has been instrumental in giving us access to top-tier competition and developmental resources,” he said.

First-time international competitor Saanvi Somu highlighted the benefits of this experience: “From a practice round, I could tell this course rewards smart, strategic golf. It’s a tremendous growth opportunity, both technically and mentally.”

Kashika Mishra echoed those sentiments, praising the IGU’s commitment to nurturing talent. “They don’t just give us exposure—they support us like a backbone. Events like these shape our careers and our confidence,” she said.
