The Hayabusa’s Dominance in India’s Motorcycle Market
Since Suzuki Motorcycle India launched the Hayabusa, first as an import and later assembled locally in Gurugram, the bike has become a favorite among performance enthusiasts. Its success in the market has been undeniable, with sales reaching 2,400 units to date. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) reports that in FY2025 alone, Suzuki sold 511 units of the Hayabusa, marking a remarkable 71% increase in sales compared to FY2024.
Surging Sales and Market Share Growth
This sales surge has allowed the Hayabusa to maintain its commanding position in the 1,000cc to 1,600cc segment, where it holds a 57% market share, up from 47% in the previous year. Suzuki’s focus on performance, design, and reliability has helped secure this top spot, particularly in the high-performance motorcycle segment. The bike is priced at Rs 16.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and is now available at selected Suzuki big bike dealerships across India.
Competition and Market Trends
While Suzuki remains a leader, it faces competition from brands like Triumph and Harley-Davidson. Triumph’s Bonneville T120, Bobber, and Speedmaster have sold 208 units, reflecting a 28% growth and securing them a 23% market share. Harley-Davidson’s models, including the Sportster S and Pan America 1250 Special, followed with 119 units sold, experiencing an 11% year-over-year growth. Meanwhile, Kawasaki’s 998cc Ninja models saw a slight dip, with just 61 units sold, three fewer than in FY2024.
What’s New with the 2025 Hayabusa Edition?
Notably, Suzuki has recently launched the 2025 edition of the Hayabusa, which comes with tech upgrades designed to enhance both performance and comfort. The bike retains its powerful 1,340cc inline 4-cylinder engine, delivering 187 bhp and 150 Nm of torque. Additionally, it features a 6-speed gearbox and a bi-directional quickshifter for smooth and efficient gear transitions, making it an even more compelling option for performance enthusiasts.
