As shifting weather patterns continue to affect northern India, Delhi residents are seeing a brief respite from the heat, while Rajasthan remains gripped by extreme temperatures. The latest forecast offers a mixed bag of light rain, dust storms, and continued high temperatures — all impacting daily life and market trends alike.

Light Showers and Strong Winds Cool Down Delhi

Following a dramatic Friday evening marked by dust storms and lightning across Delhi-NCR — including areas like Noida and Ghaziabad — the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more unstable weather. Saturday’s forecast includes a partly cloudy sky, transitioning to generally cloudy conditions by evening. Expect light rain or drizzle accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching up to 60 km/h.

These weather fluctuations brought some cooling relief across the capital. Friday’s maximum temperature hit 41°C — a notable 4.2°C above normal — while the minimum settled at 25.6°C. Local areas like Narela, Pitampura, and Mayur Vihar recorded 0.5 mm of rain, with temperatures dropping significantly in some pockets — from 36–37°C to a cooler 27°C. Humidity levels also shifted throughout the day, swinging between 57% and 35%.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remains a concern. At 4 PM Friday, the AQI stood at 219 — placing it firmly in the “poor” category. Weather experts note that while rains may ease temperatures, they often do little to improve the air pollution index in the short term.

Rajasthan’s Heatwave Shows No Sign of Slowing

While Delhi cooled off slightly, Rajasthan faced scorching heat with temperatures soaring past 45°C in multiple cities. Sri Ganganagar and Churu led the pack at 45.4°C, followed closely by Chittorgarh (45.2°C), Vanasthali and Kota (45.1°C), and Pilani (44.9°C). Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Sangaria also reported sweltering highs, continuing the heatwave streak.

The weather remained dry on Friday, with widespread heatwave to severe heatwave conditions gripping the state. However, relief may be on the horizon. The IMD predicts strong winds and dust storms starting Saturday, particularly across the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions. Winds are expected to blow at 30–40 km/h, potentially cooling temperatures by 2–4°C in the coming days.

What’s Ahead: Climate Conditions and Broader Trends

These shifts reflect broader market trends in climate behavior that are increasingly impacting urban planning, public health, and even sectors like agriculture and energy. As weather volatility grows, so does the urgency for adaptation strategies. With Nifty and other economic indicators often reacting to weather-sensitive industries like auto and agriculture, market watchers keep a close eye on such developments.

Meanwhile, the bank rally and the performance of auto stocks remain under watch as extreme weather can influence everything from consumer behavior to supply chain efficiency. As India navigates another year of unpredictable climate patterns, cities like Delhi and regions like Rajasthan offer real-time case studies in resilience and response.
