District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar explained that the weather in Lucknow has been consistently poor for the past few hours, with continuous rainfall prompting the issuance of this order. Authorities are ensuring strict compliance with the closure order.

The heavy rain and strong winds have led to waterlogging in several areas of the state capital, resulting in electricity and telecom wires being damaged. The district administration has launched relief and rescue efforts, even as rain continues to batter the city.

The Lucknow Meteorological Centre reports that the rain is expected to persist until 10 am on Monday, with intermittent showers throughout the day.

Meanwhile, the basic education department in Uttar Pradesh will be conducting quarterly assessments for students. Examinations are scheduled to take place from September 11 to 16 and will be based on target/learning outcomes achieved through the Saral App.

The assessments will cover students from Classes 1 to 5 in language and mathematics and students from Classes 6 to 8 in mathematics and science subjects. For students in Classes 1 to 3, one question paper will be provided for every five children, while all students in Classes 4 to 8 will receive question papers.

The responsibility for conducting these examinations with integrity lies with the Basic Education Officer (BEO), Block Education Officer, and District Coordinator (Training).
