G20 Summit: Indian Security Agencies Implement Elaborate Measures
Indian security agencies are gearing up with comprehensive security measures as delegates from major global economies prepare to gather in New Delhi for the upcoming G20 Summit. The summit, which is set to take place on September 9 and 10, is expected to host an array of international delegates representing significant developed and developing economies.
Advanced Surveillance Technologies
Delhi Police and various paramilitary units have been strategically deployed to ensure the utmost security during the G20 Summit. To maintain a vigilant watch over the event’s venues, state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI) based cameras, sophisticated software alarms, and unmanned drones will be employed. These cutting-edge technologies collectively aim to monitor movements and ensure foolproof protection throughout the summit.
“Our security apparatus is designed to detect any unsuspicious activities. The AI cameras are programmed to instantly alert security personnel in the event of any unauthorized actions, such as attempts to scale walls or engage in unusual movements,”
explained a senior security official from Delhi Police.
Deployment of Snipers and Elite Commandos
In an additional bid to enhance security, the National Security Guard (NSG) commandos and skilled Army snipers will be strategically positioned in high-rise buildings surrounding the G20 Summit venues. This heightened security presence aims to deter potential threats and swiftly neutralize any security breaches that may arise.
Furthermore, international security intelligence agencies, including renowned entities such as the CIA from the United States, MI-6 from the United Kingdom, and MSS from China, have also collaborated with Indian authorities to orchestrate comprehensive security arrangements for their respective delegates.
‘Special 50’ Team for VIP Security
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has meticulously prepared a specialized security team known as the “Special 50.” Comprising approximately 1,000 skilled security personnel with extensive experience in VIP security, this team has been assembled to provide an additional layer of protection during the G20 Summit.
Canine Assistance: Mock Explosives Detection Drill
Prior to the commencement of the summit, the Delhi Police’s adept Dog Squad conducted a series of mock drills aimed at detecting dummy explosives that could potentially be concealed in luggage, vehicles, or packages. This rigorous exercise is part of the security agencies’ comprehensive approach to thwart any possible threats.
G20 Summit Schedule and Significance
The G20 world leaders’ summit is of paramount importance, scheduled to unfold in New Delhi on September 9 and 10. As India assumed the G20 Presidency on December 1, 2022, succeeding Indonesia, this summit holds significant diplomatic and economic implications for the country.
