Apple iPhone 15 Launch: Faster Charging with USB-C?

Model Charging Speed (W)
iPhone 14 Around 27W
iPhone 15 Potentially up to 35W

The Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch its latest iPhone 15 series smartphones next month. The lineup is expected to include the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Ahead of the rumored September 12 launch, there are speculations that the new iPhone models could support faster charging speeds, thanks to the switch to USB-C.

According to sources from 9to5Mac, some of the iPhone 15 models are capable of charging at a higher wattage of up to 35W. Currently, the iPhone 14 models support charging speeds of around 27W, while the Pro models charge slightly faster. With the potential upgrade to 35W, charging times could be significantly accelerated.

Apple no longer includes a power adapter with iPhones, but the company recommends using a 20W+ charger for fast charging. If the iPhone 15 indeed supports 35W charging, Apple might recommend their 30W MacBook Air charger or the 35W Dual USB-C charger for the fastest charging experience.

Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously mentioned that the iPhone 15 models would support faster charging speeds due to the transition to USB-C. He stated that these faster speeds would be achievable with MFi-certified USB-C chargers, including the 20W power adapter. This report aligns with MacRumors’ findings.

In another report, there have been rumors that Apple may not release any leather cases for the iPhone 15 lineup. DuanRui, a known leaker, shared this information. While the reasons behind this decision are unknown, other sources like ShrimpApplePro and 9to5Mac have also reported the same, adding credibility to the rumor. Apple introduced leather cases in 2013 with the iPhone 5S, refreshing them with new colors and design changes for each new iPhone model.

Interestingly, an Apple device with the model number A3094 has been spotted in India’s regulatory database, believed to be the iPhone 15. This discovery comes less than a month before the official unveiling of the device. The iPhone 14 carries model numbers A2649, A2881, A2884, A2883, and A2882.
