Ankur Bhatia’s Missed Opportunity in Gadar 2
Renowned actor Ankur Bhatia, known for his impressive performances in projects such as “Bloody Daddy” and “Aarya,” recently disclosed that he had a golden opportunity to play a significant role in the highly anticipated Bollywood blockbuster, “Gadar 2.” The film, starring Sunny Deol, has etched its name in Bollywood history by grossing over Rs 500 crore at the box office. The sequel, which fans had eagerly awaited since the release of its predecessor in 2001, has garnered praise from both audiences and critics alike.
Ankur Bhatia, in an interview with the Times of India, revealed the details of his missed opportunity. He expressed his eagerness to be a part of the project but cited compelling reasons that led him to decline the role. In his words, “I was offered the role of an Indian army officer. I had a meeting with director Anil Sharma and got on board. However, when the film finally went on the floor, I had picked up something else by then and couldn’t shoot for the Sunny Deol starrer.”
“I would have loved to be a part of Gadar 2. I mean, look at it… it is such a huge success. It would have been awesome to have it in my portfolio. After all, it’s all about destiny. It is funny how destiny works. I’m extremely happy for the whole team, though,”
Ankur also shared his fondness for Bobby Deol and his excitement at the prospect of being part of Sunny Deol’s film. He admired Sunny Deol as an actor and was keen on collaborating with him. Ankur Bhatia further stated that he thoroughly enjoyed watching the first installment, “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha,” and acknowledged its massive success in 2001. According to him, the record-breaking triumph of “Gadar 2” was destined, as people had been eagerly awaiting its release for a long time.
The actor considered himself fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet Sunny Deol at the success party for “Gadar 2,” despite missing out on the film. “Gadar 2” hit theaters on August 11, 2023, and boasts a star-studded cast, including Ameesha Patel, Manish Wadhwa, Gaurav Chopra, Luv Sinha, Simrat Kaur, Mir Sarwar, Rohit Choudhary, Rakesh Bedi, and many others.
Prior to this, Ankur Bhatia was seen in Sushmita Sen’s “Taali,” and earlier in the year, he appeared alongside Shahid Kapoor in “Bloody Daddy.” His diverse career also includes notable projects like “Haseena Parkar” and “Aarya.”
